Mobile Informed trading leveraging social sentiment

Past works exploring the relationship between social sentiment and stock markets have been of great interest to investors and scholars across multiple disciplines. In this study, we debate whether informed trading is practically connected with social media information even though uninformed trading is commonly linked with social sentiment. We measure the probability of informed trading and perform analysis of covariance on a data set classifying firm cohorts on two trading channels, traditional and mobile. The results show that the influence of positive sentiment on informed trading is statistically significant for well-known firm group on the mobile channel. However, negative sentiment and other factors do not affect the informed trading in the same setting. This implies that social media is likely to be a channel for mobile informed trading, which is different from previous research. This study offers new insights into the economic impact of social media on the informed trading

Community of Practice and Organizational Design

In this paper, we pointed out how the form and management of an organization shapes its levels of knowledge transfer and learning. We document the lessons from an ongoing knowledge management program within a major French banking company at its early beginnings. Basically, the purpose of this program is to understand how knowledge sharing and learning can be supported in professionallyoriented communities to reduce business process and improve organizational performance. Through this business case, we illustrated that promoting management initiatives without taking into account organizational structures is a nonsense. Corporate success in today’s economy comes from being able to acquire, codify, and transfer knowledge more effectively within the whole organization. From this point of view, organizational design is about enabling a group of people to combine, coordinate, and control resources and activities in order to produce value i.e. organizational knowledge. Too many knowledge initiatives undertaken today are disconnected from organizational design. As a result, many executives are unsure of how to translate the goal of becoming a “learning organization” into strategic course of action. Thus, creating the appropriate organizational design can enhance the organization ability to create and exploit knowledge

Knowledge transfer is no longer reducible to classical solutions such as face-to-face training, technical education or tutoring. Knowledge to be transferred is professional knowledge (Business Knowledge). It involves the whole Knowledge Capital within an organization. Identifying the knowledge components that are worthwhile transferring is not an easy task. This is the problem addressed in this paper.Knowledge transfer, Knowledge Management, Knowledge mapping, Knowledge capitalization

International audiencePrior KM research suggest that organizational culture influences directly or indirectly the effective use of knowledge management system (KMS). These studies suggest that we would expect individuals to respond more favourably to KM technologies whose use supports one or more of the organization's underlying values. In this article, we propose a framework to help organizations articulate how culture affects their units' ability to create, transfer and apply knowledge through KMS effective use. We also present an exploratory case study we have performed in an international organization and we discuss the managerial implications of our results

Increasing transferability of tacit knowledge with knowledge engineering methods

International audienceKnowledge transfer is a real challenge for organizations and particularly for those who have based their strategy on knowledge codification using knowledge engineering methods. These organizations are facing one major problem: their knowledge repository is used by few persons. Why? In this article, we identify barriers for transfer and appropriation of codified knowledge referential. We show that codified knowledge transfer should be a specific collaborative process taking into account three aspects: complexity and specificity of codified knowledge, readers' profiles, and exchange channels. Then, we propose to improve knowledge transfer process by developing new specifications for the codified knowledge to increase its transferability and by elaborating a pertinent shared context for knowledge interpretation. It is an empirical methodology which optimizes continuity between knowledge codification and knowledge transfer

International audienceAlthough, the KM-culture research has helped to validate the importance of cultural values for companies' KM initiatives and provided insights into some important values, it still lacks frameworks and analysis outlining how specific types of cultural values might relate to Knowledge Management systems adoption and subsequent outcomes. In this article, we provide a three-dimensional framework to help managers articulate how culture affects their unit's ability to create, transfer and apply knowledge through KMS use. To illustrate the application of the framework, we also present an exploratory case study we have performed in an international organization in the area of development assistance and capacity development

Automatisation Robotisée des Processus (RPA) : quels défis pour la transformation numérique des entreprises ?

International audienceAlthough many research studies have acknowledged that digital transformation is a multidimensional phenomenon, it still lacks frameworks to articulate clearly how the digital transformation takes place through digital technologies. In this article, we focus on Robotic Process Automation (RPA), one of the most widely deployed digital technologies today within companies. We propose a framework to help organizations analyze transformational effects of RPA at the management level. We illustrate these transformational effects in the context of an international company, which has deployed RPA as a digital technology.
